As the name suggests, this contains all the National Geographic issues from the very first issue until December 2008. It has been scanned in high resolution and the pictures are very sharp and clear, except for the first years in the late 1880s and very early 1900s where there are some artifacts.
It is really easy to use but I wish it was easier to browse the issues as when you go month by month you only see the cover page and it's too small to read what is that month's content. A great improvement would be to have a larger image of the cover page when browsing. It's easy to read even on your monitor, and the ads are all included and some are very funny (like the Greyhound ad that offers you a Free Gay Pleasure Map of America, or the old ads for very early models of lawn mower or some of the first vehicles ever to be on sale country-wide!). This is great for the curious and those who love history, as Nat Geo has always been a little more than just Geography! You will also notice the first issue were really boring! Then as it became bigger and I guess richer, Nat Geo quickly became what we know today.
The only downpoint, and I think this will be corrected in the next update, is that you cannot rotate the pictures. No big deal you might say, but in older issues images were on the side so you had to turn the magazine to see them. Not you need to turn your head.
Installation is easy, even if you want to install everything on your computer (I installed the content on a USB hard drive as it takes about 60 GB).
They were supposed to have the 2009 issues available in Spring 2010, so far we're in July and nothing, so I hope National Geographic will continue to update this product and support it, unlike the previous version that was sold in the 1990s. Because of that and the pictures that we cannot rotate, I give it a 4 stars but it could easily also deserve 5 stars.

This item is a ''dream come true'' for lovers of the National Geographic Magazine! As advertised, it contains every issue in it's integrity since 1888 (even the commercial adds!) I recommend this product to everyone who loves geography, amazing pictures and well written articles.
