5 out of 5 stars A very fun game   July 7, 2010
Dominique Vandal (Québec, Canada)
This game is a fictional turn base strategy inspired a bit from WW2. You are playing Welkin, the son of a former famous General, and you will become the squad leader of team 7 or the 3rd regiment of the militia. You have to defend Galia, your homeland, from the Empire. By following their story book, you will know why they have invaded your country by watching all the new episode that will be added to your book when you have completed the previous one.

In this game, you will have to choose the troops that will support the Edelweiss, the tank of Welkin, for every mission. You can train your troops, upgrade your tank, take a look at the news paper from the Headquarter. Each characters that you can choose have their strengths and weaknesses.

Once the squad 7 is formed, before each mission, you will have to place your troops on the fields and you will have to play your phase using the command point you have to move your troops. When all those points are used then it will be the enemy phase. If one of your player falls on the ground, you will have 3 turns to tag that character to call a medic and return that character at your reserve base.

It is a well done game and it can even be played by young children. The story is good and it is also adapted for them and adults who love turn base strategy game will also love this game.

If you enjoy this game, you can also search for Axis and allies miniatures on the amazon search bar at the top. It is a turn base table game with miniature of WWII units and it has similar gameplay of Valkyria Chronicles.

4 out of 5 stars d'awesome   April 1, 2010

this game is surprisingly unique, in that although it's a tactical RPG, when you control a character it's more like a 3rd-person WWII game. Sometimes difficult, but never frustrating. The story and voice-acting is a lot of fun, because the more you use a character the more you learn about them. SEGA has a very interesting take on what went on in Europe during the second world war.

5 out of 5 stars What Final Fantasy XIII should be   March 25, 2010
David Girard (Montreal)
This game has it all: great graphics, truly amazing gameplay, challenging strategy, great characters and creative inter-personal dependencies. If you loved Final Fantasy X and love turn-based strategy games like Disgaea, then you are about to fall in love. I lent it to my friend but I have to get it back to play it again. And I have three unfinished games on my shelf. It's that good.

5 out of 5 stars A must buy for any SRPG fan!!   December 15, 2009

I won't say much except, if you haven't tried this game yet it's worth your time. I always wanted to buy this game but it was always to expensive. I bought it for $30 and loved every bit of it. I even decided to buy this for a friend of mine for his birthday! If you like a good story, good strategy elements and a fun experience, pick this up. You won't regret it.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful game, hard to find   October 30, 2009
Robert Doyle
This appears at first to be a rather simple game, but if you like Anime/Manga, you will love how it develops. The story takes a somewhat historical path with some twists, but it does it well. It's not the best story out there, but is well done for what it is.

The game play is enjoyable, despite some of the typical "hey, the computer can do this but I can't" stuff. You will find it enjoyable on a few levels, from discovering how to beat it with the highest scores versus playing it with some military style.

The art direction is very well done, and the voice acting is amusing. It is very Anime/Manga - so if that isn't your thing, you should probably find another game.

I had searched locally for months for this game before turning to Amazon. Every rental store I went to had the same problem - the game went out, but no one ever returned it. It was too hard to find so people would just pay the replacement cost to the store. That should speak to the enjoyment factor of this title.
