3 out of 5 stars DDR not sounding Great   December 27, 2009
M. Fatmi (Canada)
Just bought this game on sale as part of a bundle at my local store. This was my first DDR game and I bought an extra dance pad so I could try out versus as well as double mode. While the game is fun and challenging I found myself frustrated that a lot of the songs (beginner or intermediate) were too easy or too hard and I had to deal with it as a first time player. Worst still, the non original songs some of which included Pet Shop Boys, Ok Go, and Bob Marlow, were overall a resounding fail being slow, mismatched for the game or just not to my taste. I prefer modern rock, pop, r&b, electronic (techno/trance), indie and alternative music so I'm not overly picky but these songs were just not good.

Despite all this DDR is addictive and the competitive nature of the versus mode really makes you forget about all else besides winning. Also, it the workout mode is useful for those tracking calorie loss as the harder levels or endless modes really make you work up a sweat. The Street mode or something was rather useless as the story was practically non-existent and was more of just an unlocking mode. The courses of songs on normal or advanced are decent and definitely give you a good bit of challenge.

Although I have yet to unlock all the levels and play the game to the full potential (used it for 4 hours) I still found it decent. I don't have any other DDR games so I can't compare but although it has several shortcomings it remains true to the DDR game style with 70 songs to choose from.
