EA Sports Active Gameplay
Designed around the standard Wii Remote/Nunchuck tethered controller configuration, EA Sports Active's interactive fitness program is more focused on physical activities than previous 'fitness' titles for the Wii, but still challenges you to have fun while developing a more healthy lifestyle. Separated into the three sections of workout, nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity, the user's experience begins with a pep talk from Bob Greene which quickly transitions into the beginnings of action as players set up profiles, choose a virtual personal trainer and enter baseline data like age, weight, gender, fitness goals, etc. Although the nutrition, lifestyle, and other activity sections add a holistic element facilitated by a mix of surveys and data input, building fitness through physical activity is the driving force behind EA Sports Active, and as such the meat of the content resides in the workout section. Here players will find dozens of themed strength training and cardio workouts which can be customized as you choose and linked into circuit training routines. These routines are introduced and monitored by your personal trainer, and allow for ongoing player motivation via real-time feedback on your workout form, an approximation of calories burned and the ability to adjust levels of exercise intensity.

Key Game Features

  • 35+ New Exercises - EA Sports Active More Workouts keeps your workout fresh with over 35 all new exercises and fitness activities.
  • Warm Up and Cool Down Stations - 4 new exercises designed to warm up your body before a workout routine and 4 cool down exercises designed to stretch the muscles after a workout and help maintain flexibility.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the Buy   May 23, 2010

I love this version to the original EA Sports Active...both are fantastic games to play when you want to stay in shape. I was looking for a program with my WII that would make me get up in the morning to do exercise. I found it in both versions....love it love it.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   March 26, 2010

Its even better then the first one, and with a lot less glitches on the exercices as well.

I combine P90X with Wii Active more workouts and its really great. I use it mainly for cardio and the pre set programs have defenitly going to take you where you want to go, i tried the easy and the hard and they are both very challenging.

If you want an extra challenge and a real reason to buy the WII console this game is the reason.

This Wii sport game is ok but I find it very hard to do some of the exercises when I have to hold onto the wii remote and exercise band. I find that I don't get the proper form that I fight with the game. I think if people can figure out to do all exercises then it will be great. I also found that the stap that went around you leg doesn't stay on. I am not rail thin and the strap doesn't stay on, nor fights. the strap is not made for people with big thighs. Even for my husbands chicken legs!!! congrats to all of you who have made it work. It's super frustrating to me know.

Would I recommend you get this? YES!! This game "adds" to your fitness routines and EA Personal Trainer. And I really mean it "adds". Unlike Wii Fitness Plus, it does not import the majority of exercises from Personal Trainer other than the strength excercises. This is annoying because the new game has added wonderful and necessary new features such as warm up and cool down and ab exercises that are important for any complete workout. Because the new game does not allow an import of the other games into the game, workouts remain limited. It would be great if ALL the available EA Active Workouts could be in "one game" rather than just coming out with more and more that you have to buy but can not combine!! :( I particularly enjoy the Step Aerobics -- very real, definitely works you out, and it's the best Wii Step Aerobics I have come across to date. The Water skiing is more for fitness than the feeling that you are really skiing. You are likely to curse at your TV trainer for how hard some of the workouts are! However, I'm not sure how much bulky muscle one can build -- lean muscle building is very likely.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
You will NEED to get an accessory kit (which is included in the EA Sports Active Personal Trainer) version because it is not included in this game. The genuine or knock off product can be bought (if available) from stores such as Amazon, eBay, or Walmart. There is also a exercise short that [...] on eBay is selling for this game which has a sewn in pocket for the nunchuck and is incredibly soft and works very well so the workout is so much more enjoyable plus you don't have to jam the nunchuck into the pouch like you do with the leg strap supplied with the EA Personal Trainer game. Instead of the accessory kit, this game has partnered with Oprah's Best Life Bob Green and you will find a small nutrition and recipe booklet.
